A clean, no-fluff reference for Minecraft beacons. Pick a pyramid tier to see exactly how far the beacon reaches (20 to 50 blocks), how many mineral blocks each tier costs, and which powers it unlocks, shown on a simple top-down range diagram. Every beacon effect — Speed, Haste, Resistance, Jump Boost, Strength, and Regeneration — is listed with what it actually does and the tier you need for it, plus the core rules: the beacon needs a clear view of the sky, one ingot activates it, and the range is a horizontal square that keeps refreshing while you're inside it.
Pugtools home All toolsRange is a flat square pulsing out from the beacon — 50 blocks in every direction. Height barely matters inside it.
Effects wake up as the pyramid grows. Tap a tier above and watch the dim ones light up.
Walk and sprint faster — great for covering big bases quickly.
+20% movement speed per level (Speed II reaches +40%).
Mine and attack faster — the go-to buff for big digging projects.
Breaks blocks ~20% faster per level and speeds up attack recovery.
Take less damage from almost every source while in range.
−20% incoming damage per level.
Jump noticeably higher to clear walls and bigger gaps.
Roughly +½ block of jump height per level (and softens fall damage).
Melee hits land harder — handy near mob farms or PvP arenas.
+3 melee damage per level in Java Edition (a percentage in Bedrock).
Slowly heal over time without spending hunger or food.
≈½ heart every 2.5s. Only offered as the second effect on a Tier-4 beacon.
It needs open sky
The beacon must see straight up. Only air or transparent blocks (glass, stained glass) may sit above it — any solid block kills the beam.
One ingot activates it
Crafted with a nether star, the beacon takes a single iron, gold, emerald, diamond, or netherite ingot to lock in an effect. Block type never matters — iron is cheapest.
It refreshes while you're near
Step into range and the buff keeps topping itself up, then lingers a few seconds after you wander out. A full Tier-4 beacon also unlocks level II or a second Regeneration effect.
